Sweden confirms second case of COVID-19
On wednesday swedish authorities confirmed second case of the novel corona virus infection in the country. A man in his 30-ies who had recently returned from northen Italy developed symptoms typical for the COVID-19 disease, including fever and respiratory illness three days after his return. He was tested positive for the SARS-CoV-19 virus and became the second case in Sweden. The first corona virus patient in Sweden, a 20-something year old woman is assumed having recovered since no further news about her condition has been published since february 5th, as hospital spokes person refers to patient integrity, and that her case is no longer condsidered to be of public interest.
The 30 year old man currently ill from the virus is being treated at the infection clinic at East hospital in Gothenburg Sweden. His condition is reported to be stable and he is “feeling well”. Authorities are now working on tracking individuals that the man have been in contact with and that may have been infected.
Anders Tegnell, chief epidemiologist at the health authorities said that the risk for community transmission of the virus in Sweden is still judged to be low.
